MyDrive’s effective teaching method is built to accommodate and support nervous or first-time drivers
- You must have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit to enroll in this course
- You will learn how to operate a manual transmission car, start, stop, and shift gears, parallel park, and drive in traffic
- Students will receive four hours of behind-the-wheel lessons with one of our certified, state-licensed instructors
- Our vehicles are regularly inspected by facilities approved by the Secretary of State to ensure that they meet all safety benchmarks
- We have a dual-brake system for maximum safety
- Students typically use their first lesson to become familiar with the controls of a manual transmission vehicle, and their second lesson to practice driving and build muscle memory and confidence

No one can guarantee how quickly or slowly things will move at the SOS, but in general Fridays are more crowded than other days, and afternoons are more crowded than mornings.
It is strongly recommended that anyone who needs to visit a Secretary of State facility should make an appointment in advance at the SOS’s scheduling site. Permit-test or road-test appointments should be scheduled with time to spare.
